Hudson Smith has pledged his verbal commitment to Texas A&M. The future Aggie is an in-state talent. He swims for Brenham Swim Club and Brenham High School.

On the high school level, Smith is a three time Texas 5A State Champion. He is the defending champion in the 200 IM (1:49.40) and the 100 breaststroke (55.97). In the 100 breaststroke he set a sizzling 5A state record last season.

Smith told Swimming World,

“Texas A&M is the perfect school for me. Jay and Jason are great coaches, the facilities and academics are first class, and the team made me feel like family as soon as I stepped on campus. I’m excited about the future of Texas A&M Swimming and can’t wait to be a part of the Aggie family. Gig’Em!”

He is a very versatile swimmer with two Summer Juniors cuts, seven Winter Juniors cuts, and four Winter National cuts across nine events. His best times are (SCY/LCM):

100 Breast 55.97/ 1:05.14
200 Breast 2:00.73/ 2:19.55
200 IM 1:49.40/2:07.70
400 IM 3:53.87/4:30.92
500/400 Free 4:31.44/ 4:03.65

The Aggies finished eight at SECs last season. Smith sits right on the cusp of scoring in all of his top events. With another year of training before he arrives in College Station, Smith could be a point scorer for the Aggies in his freshman year.

Hudson is one of the few people that I can truly say that has been humble and nice to everyone on deck. Congrats on your commitment and A&M will be a great fit for you! Only great things are to come for the A&M swim program.
